NBA Star Evan Turner Embraces His Sartorial Savvy in Atlanta

Shooting guard Evan Turner has seen his fair share of teams and towns.

The Chicago native just wrapped up a three-year stint in Portland as a Trailblazer and now he’s an Atlanta Hawk. He’s also played for the Philadelphia 76ers, the Indiana Pacers and the Boston Celtics.

But no matter where he lives, the 30-year-old always manages to pull together sophisticated and thoughtful ensembles that turn heads. He also co-owns a menswear store in Columbus, Ohio called Madison-USA. The store is named for the Madison and Pulaski strip in Chicago where Turner grew up shopping.

Fascinatingly enough, he tried to blend into the background as a shy and self-conscious kid, he says. “I had a speech impediment,” Turner confides. “When I turned 24, I began to really wear colors. I found my own style and didn’t need to stand in the background anymore.”

Turner would also take more fashion risks and maybe even walk the runway or appear in magazines.

“Baby steps first,” he says.
